Nebraska fans howled last month when they found out they would have to hit the road in the regional round of the NCAA tournament. Now the fifth-seeded Huskers will try to prove their point on the court.

Nebraska swept Colorado on Friday in a regional semifinal in Lexington, Kentucky, to set up a showdown with the fourth-seeded Wildcats, who survived their second scare of the tournament with a five-set win over BYU. The hosts were down 2-1 after three but rallied behind 21 kills from Leah Edmond and 20 from Avery Skinner.

The Huskers, who haven’t dropped a set in the tournament, are making their sixth straight trip to the regional final; it is a first for the Wildcats.

The winner clinches a spot in the final four in Kansas City, set for Dec. 14-16.

It will be Big Ten vs. Big Ten in the State College regional final. Top-seeded Penn State, which swept Missouri behind 15 kills from senior star Simone Lee, will take on Michigan State, a 3-1 winner over Illinois. The Nittany Lions are 2-0 against the Spartans this year, dropping just one set in each win.

In Gainesville, the second-seeded Gators topped UCLA 3-1 and will take on No. 10 USC, which upset No. 7 Minnesota in a sweep. The Gators have won 14 in a row and are looking to return to the final four for the first time in 14 years. Khalia Lanier led the Trojans with 20 kills.
